It all started with Wisconsin butter.
Chocolaterian began as a collaboration between Sam Jacobsen and Leanne Cordisco in 2009. Sam Jacobsen, founder of the PDQ convenience store chain, had been looking to start a candy business for years. Sam and Leanne teamed up to produce candies featuring Wisconsin butter as one of the primary ingredients. They launched a line of gourmet toffees and caramels, naming them after Sam’s mother Christine. Sam Jacobsen passed away in January, 2010, but his spirit still exists in the company today – Christine’s Gourmet Toffee is available in our online shop, in our stores, and even available wholesale.
Chocolaterian Cafe opened in October 2012 on Atwood Ave in Madison, WI as a European-style patisserie that specializes in desserts and sweets. We’ve since added an ever-expanding menu of savory items for lunch and dinner. In June 2017 we opened a second location on University Ave in Middleton, WI. Both locations offer the same cozy environment, complete menu, wine and chocolate.
You are always welcome to relax or work with our complimentary wi-fi.
